Beauty- Five Minute Friday

It has been a busy weekend between celebrating my mom, Linda's upcoming 70th birthday and also losing a dear sister in my church and the horse I have so loved for the past several years. I am convinced that the beauty of a life is not measured by how long one lives, but by the magnitude it touches others.

beauty

I think of the horse I've ridden for the past several years.

I think of her gentleness, strength, and power.

She carried me effortlessly on her back.

She kept me safe and helped me learn to canter.

She was a rescue, malnourished with scars from her life before.

She forgave people and she submitted herself, trusting humans once again.

She was kind and all children loved her.

I think of the brother in my church fellowship who so tenderly and lovingly cared

for his wife the last so many years as she slipped further and further away from

Alzheimer's. The twinkle in his eyes for her never stopped.

Why? A late posting for Five Minute Friday

I was a bit stumped with how to respond to this one. It is a question I ask a lot and never seem to get many answers to. It's nothing new under the sun. We all want to know.............

WHY?

We
Hunger and
Yearn to know

We ask

We can't comprehend

We fill in the blanks

We spin the wheels of our minds in mud

We sink deeper and deeper

Instead of asking, "Why not?"

We ask, "Why?"

"Why me, not them?"

"Why now? Why this?"

"What in the world is God doing?"

"What a mess this all is!"

"Why can't they see?"

"Why won't they listen?"

"Why must we learn the hard way?"

"Why are we here?"

"Why do they get away with that?"

"Why don't you fix this, God?"

Why don't we let God be God?

Why don't we leave it?

Privilege-Five Minute Friday

I just finished watching a five minute video demonstrating what privilege looks like when people are running a race. It really puts everything into perspective. Privilege is defined by google as"a special right, advantage, or immunity granted."

Privilege

Perspective is everything. I enjoy and have been blessed with many privileges.

I am an American.

I am educated.

I am healthy.

I am adopted by two wonderful people who were married 45 years.

I am a believer of God and able to worship freely.

I am employed.

I am a teacher able to inspire and empower young minds.

I am many things I could not become on my own account.

God has given freely and given much.

I do not understand.

Agree- Five Minute Friday on Sunday

What a busy weekend! This week's prompt took me back to a friendship I developed years ago.

Amos 3:3 "Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?" (NASB)

agree...

Don't get married, unless you can agree upon some pretty important points.

Make sure you agree to talk about those important points.

If you don't, how can or will your marriage last?

I took a lot of time building a friendship with an older gentleman years ago. My prayer was we would come to a place of mutual agreement either to seal the deal for something long term or part ways. We did not agree upon the issue of children. He was adamant he didn't want them, but I did. I was not going to change him or his mind.

We agreed to disagree and parted amicably. I am so thankful we talked about the important issues first.
