Convenient-A Late Five Minute Friday from last week

It has been anything BUT convenient to get last week's prompt done with reports cards due this past week. Nevertheless, here I am posting in time before the next prompt comes on Friday, February first.

Convenient........

It wasn't convenient for him to do it. Upon discussing details for a camping trip, I was hoping for my boyfriend at the time, to pick me up so we could ride together in one car. It wasn't going to happen. I was only ten to fifteen minutes away, but he didn't want to drive out of his way

What does that say?

EH! EH! EH! A red light flashed in my mind. If he didn't want to go a little extra for some more time with me, this wasn't going to change with bigger stuff.

Love is not convenient. We go out of our way when we truly love.

STOP

Influence-Five Minute Friday

Originally I was to going to write a poem about ripples in a pond, but then I heard the tail end of David Jeremiah's message this morning and knew I needed to go in a different direction.

Influence

Have you ever noticed what people have a habit of doing at funerals? It wasn't until I started attending them quite regularly the past few years, when I realized everyone talks about how great their recently lost loved one was.

I began to wonder whether they ever told them these things while they were still alive. I would much rather someone tell me while I'm alive how I've influenced them, than wait until I'm pushing up daisies from six feet under. Wouldn't you?

I'm so thankful I took the time to write a thank you letter to a favorite professor of mine in college. He actually wrote me back. See his response below.

STOP

I learned years later he passed away at the young age of 53. We never know when the bell will toll or for whom on each day. May we all take time to tell people thank you for how they have influenced us because the funeral really is too late!

1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." (NIV)

Better- First Five Minute Friday of 2019!

We're back! Happy New Year everybody! A quote that has stuck with me the past few weeks from Alistair Begg of Truth for Life is, "There's no ideal place to serve God." If we're all on the same plane, heading to the same destination, what is most important? Is one better than the other?

Better.......

Is it better to be single or married?
Both have their disappointments and drawbacks.

Is it better to have kids or pets?
Both need time and attention.

Is it better to be young or old?
You never stop learning.
At least I hope I don't.

Is it better to be black or white?
Both have something to offer.
Diversity is key.

Is it better to live in America or some place else?
We'll find light and dark wherever we go.

Is it better to be a democrat or republican?
Both have valid points on one issue or another.

Is it better to spend eternity in heaven or hell?

STOP

Another quote worth sharing, "If you think the grass is greener in your neighbor's yard, that's the Holy Spirit telling you to tend to your own better." -anonymous
