Visit-Five Minute Friday

I responded to this week's prompt yesterday, but only now have I had an opportunity to post. Thus I have already visited with a few different people. I hope this Memorial Day you are enjoying time with your loved ones. The time certainly does fly by. Here's what I came up with yesterday.

visit......

I always look forward to visiting with friends and/or family. I especially love sharing a meal and a game with them. Later today I'll visit with my dear friend, Ida. She's 96, but still pretty sharp.

Next month the doctor visits begin for routine check-ups. Although I don't like being poked and prodded, I'm so thankful for their service and care.

However, there's one very special place filled with dear ones I'd love to visit and can't. In a dream I had years ago, my late Dad, Guy, described it to me. I asked him if he wanted to come back here or missed being in heaven and you guessed it. He said he missed being there. When I asked him what it was like he replied, "it's a very rich place and very bright."

Revelation 1:14-15"His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters." (NASB)

Truth-Five Minute Friday on Sunday evening

"What is truth?", Pilate asked. (John 18:38, NASB)

In A Few Good Men Colonel Jessup told Lieutenant Kaffee he couldn't handle it after Kaffee told him he wanted it.

Some think it is relative and not absolute.

If there is no absolute truth, where does that leave us?

Kids need boundaries. if they don't have them or they are inconsistent, always subject to change, they won't feel safe.

Left to our own devices, without a common compass and manual to live by, we are lost and unable to build anything that will stand the test of time.

Jesus said to him," I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me." (John 14:6)

Mom- Five Minute Friday

Happy Mom's Day weekend to everyone. Although I don't have children of my own, I do have a mom, who adopted me as a teen. She made herself available to nurture and protect me at such a critical time in my life. I cannot say enough about her and how great she is.

Yet what came to mind this morning is for all the women who are not moms and have perhaps felt left out of all the hooplah surrounding this weekend.  Even though we may or may not birth children of our own, we can and still do birth something. As creative beings made in the image of a creative God, we birth, we feed, and we nurture.

Moments

Of

Magnificence & miracles

That's what women become a vessel for when they engage in creation. Not just the joining of cells in our wombs to bring forth new life, precious and perfect, but anything that we allow to originate and develop deep within our minds and souls. Something at some point comes forth.

What shall we birth and nurture?

What shall we leave behind when we are gone?

Only we can choose what we will allow and make ourselves available to.

Amy Carmichael had no children of her own, but availed herself to mother many in India. Mother Theresa did the same.

Should- Five Minute Friday on Sunday

Another busy weekend, but the thoughts have been simmering since I read this week's prompt on Friday. This is what I came up with for this week.

should......

Shoulda, woulda, coulda

Should've done this before that

They always ask what we would do different next time

Part of that reflection on professional practice, you know

Yes, hind sight is always twenty twenty

How many times have I realized too late

one thing would've been better than another

Or I should've never said that and now it's too late

I can't undo or unsay anything

What's done is done and said is said

Yet on a more encouraging note

Something from a song I heard yesterday

"Never would've made it without you,"

Except, I would change it slightly

"Never should've made it."

If I look back on my life

I know without God's grace,

I never would've made it thus far

Man's standards and stats say,

I should not have

Only God's grace keeps us and gets us through
