Routine-Five Minute Friday on Sunday

Ecclesiastes 17:13-14 "In the day of prosperity be happy, But in the day of adversity consider God has made the one as well as the other, So that man will not discover anything that will be after him." (NASB)

Routine.........

Has the weather been crazy or what this past winter? One day we had seventy degrees in February and then in March came one Nor 'Easter after another.

One day I saw rain only in the forecast. By the afternoon, emergency weather warnings interrupted regularly scheduled radio programming, to announce several inches of snow were coming and quickly with high winds.

Routines go out the window. I can't remember the last full week of school without a closing, early dismissal, or delay. Don't plan too far ahead I'm reminded. Don't count on everything staying the same.

How and what do I prepare then?

Provide-Five Minute Friday

Do we look for opportunities to be the provision for someone else's needs? Do we consider ourselves to be an answer of comfort?  Jesus no longer walks among us as He did over two thousand years ago. Instead, He lives within the hearts of His children. We are His hands and feet. I was reminded of that this week.

Provide........

Another snow day, I lamented. As soon as I got the text, I texted two of my friends complaining, "There goes Memorial Day." We've gone over our allotment and so pay back will come. I logged into Facebook to catch up and read my cousin, Teddy's post. She would be taking her Puddy to the vet for the last time that day.

It was time. His health was failing and now he had diabetes. She has had him for many years, even before her late husband, Bob passed away. He has been her sole companion since Bob passed.

No miracle provided. No healing this time. Instead, I was home to see her post, call, and invite her over for lunch; a hot cup of tea, soup, and sandwiches. Comfort provided on an unexpected day.

Tired-Five Minute Friday on Sunday evening

We survived the back to back winter storms and changed the clocks to spring forward. It has been a whirlwind of a weekend. I know all of us reach a point where we are living in the state of this week's prompt.

tired.........

Winter wears

wears one out

cold, frigid air

same old, same old

day in, day out

Brilliance and novelty of

the first, bright, white snow

fades fast

Mixed with dirt, gravel, sand

it's gray and bland

Life gets that way

In the afternoon season of

one's journey and soul

Going round and round

hard to see anything

new or different

Look for little signs

The buds will come

ladybugs fly again

color returns

Winter wears,

but spring surely comes

Is it any wonder we celebrate

new life of Christ now this month

Regret- Five Minute Friday

Ah, a day to write on Friday as we are being slammed with a Nor'easter in the northeast. Just over a week ago it was in the 70's and now it is a mess outside. We never know what life or weather will bring our way, especially most unexpectedly.

This week's prompt is challenging, but also encouraging. We can all have regrets, but we can decide to not regret how we love others. The older I get the more I realize how important it is to do this. I have failed in this area many times, but I want to be better. I need to be more mindful and I can. May God grant me wisdom and grace to do so.

Regret

It can keep you fixated

Looking in the rearview mirror

Missing what's straight ahead

It can paralyze you with fear

Unable to choose the next step

Worrying, "Will I regret this later on?"

"Is it really the best?"

This world holds nothing for us to hold onto. What I will never regret is telling people how I appreciate them, what I love about them, and being there. We can't take houses and cars with us into eternity, but we can beckon others to follow a narrow, yellow, brick road to a great city to see the most beautiful place and wonderful Creator of all.

Revelation 21:4-5 "and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold I am making all things new."
